Internal Tools & Dashboards

The screens your team opens every morning, built quickly and cheaply.

Internal tools rarely justify the engineering spend of a customer-facing product. We build them on low-code platforms or as focused web apps, whichever puts useful screens in front of your team soonest without locking you into a tool you cannot leave.

Tools we work in

  • Retool
  • Metabase
  • Apache Superset
  • React
  • TypeScript
  • PostgreSQL
  • dbt
  • Grafana

Scope

What this covers

The specific work included when you engage us for this service.

  • Rapid internal tools on Retool where speed matters most
  • Custom dashboards in React when the interface needs to be sharper
  • Operational reporting in Metabase or Superset over your existing database
  • Data entry and approval flows with validation and audit history
  • Role-based access so people see the data their job requires
  • Embedded analytics inside an existing product
  • Alerting when a metric crosses a threshold that needs attention

What you receive

  • 01Working tools for the specific process each one was built for
  • 02A reporting layer your team can query without asking a developer
  • 03A written note on what each tool owns and where its source of truth lives

Questions

Internal Tools & Dashboards, answered

Is a low-code tool good enough for real internal software?

For internal use, usually yes, and it is far cheaper to build and change. The limits appear at complex permissions, heavy custom interaction and high user counts where per-seat pricing stops making sense. We will tell you when you have crossed that line rather than defaulting every internal tool onto one platform because it is convenient for us.

We already have the data. Why is a dashboard hard?

The hard part is agreeing on definitions. Two people rarely mean the same thing by active customer or revenue for the month, and each department has a slightly different version. Most of the work is settling those definitions and writing them down. The chart is the easy part.

A 30-minute call. We map the process, tell you what we would automate or build first, and what it costs. No retainer before you agree the scope.
