Website Migration

Moving platform or host without losing rankings or data.

Migrations go wrong in predictable ways: URLs change without redirects, forms stop delivering, rankings dip and nobody notices for a month. We plan the move, run it in a controlled window, and verify the things that break silently.

Tools we work in

  • WordPress
  • Next.js
  • Cloudflare
  • MySQL
  • Google Search Console
  • Screaming Frog

Scope

What this covers

The specific work included when you engage us for this service.

  • A full inventory of pages, assets, forms and integrations before the move
  • URL mapping and redirect rules for every indexed address
  • Content and database transfer with integrity checks after import
  • DNS cutover planned for a low-traffic window with a rollback path
  • Post-migration verification of forms, tracking, email and search coverage
  • Monitoring for the weeks after launch to catch what breaks late

What you receive

  • 01A migration plan with a checklist, named owners and a rollback procedure
  • 02A redirect map covering the old site's indexed URLs
  • 03A post-migration report confirming forms, tracking and indexing still work

Questions

Website Migration, answered

How much traffic will we lose during a migration?

A short dip is normal while search engines recrawl, and it usually recovers when redirects and content are handled well. What causes a lasting loss is missing redirects, dropped content or a slow new host, exactly what the plan above is designed to prevent.

Can the old and new site run at the same time?

For parts of the content, yes, and it is worth doing when the site is large or revenue-critical. We can move section by section behind redirects, so the riskiest cutover is smaller and easier to reverse if something is wrong.
